Born on November 24, 1986, in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Raised by his mother. Has African-American and Native-American heritage.

College Basketball

Played college basketball at the University of Miami. Was a power forward for the Miami Hurricanes from 2005 to 2009.

Transition to Football

Joined the University of Miami football team for his senior year in 2009. Decided to pursue a career in football despite not playing college football.

NFL Career

Drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Became one of the best tight ends in the NFL due to his size and athleticism.
